The table of the Lord

Christ has given us a sacrament that is of importance to him and to us. It is beneficial for us to understand and follow this, so in this blog post, I desire that you do not have any misunderstanding in your mind about it.

The Lord's Supper is a sacrament that Jesus himself instituted. Jesus only held it once with his disciples. The story of this first feast is found in the Gospels.

The meaning of the Lord's Supper

We do not attend the Lord's Supper for the forgiveness of our sins. There is no power in this sacrament that can grant forgiveness to the participant. We attend the Lord's Supper to obey Christ's command. We participate in the Lord's Supper in anticipation of his early arrival. We take the Lord's Supper to demonstrate the Lord's death. No person attends this meal because he is worthy of it. It is his grace that we are born in his family. No one sits with pride at this table.

Who can participate in the Lord's Supper?

Only those who repented and believed in Jesus as Lord. Those who do not share in the table of demons can share this table. Spirit-inspection or self examination is essential before participating in the Lord's Supper. Test yourself whether you are in confidence or not and eat from this bread, and drink from this cup. Eating improperly brings punishment, debility, disease and physical death. You can check yourself by asking these three important questions related to yourself -

  1. Do I really and truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?

  2. Do I really obey the Lord's commandments?

  3. Where do I place Jesus, as the only way or one of the gods?

As we progress in our Christian life, we must daily reach and keep the place of victory in Christ. We should attend the Lord's Supper with anticipation, until He comes again. Remember the words of Jesus, "Do this for my remembrance". When we join to participate in it, we declare his incarnation, birth, baptism, ministry, trials, deeds, teachings, hardships, death, resurrection, ascension and the second coming.
