The role and description of a Pastor

The Pastor's personal life is of major importance because people listen to his teachings on Sunday and see how he works it out all week. The Pastor must be a pious - righteous, and holy man who reveals the Lord Jesus Christ through his life.

The unbelieving always expects a pastor to be almost perfect. The Pastor should be a man who lives a prayerful life. Every day he should spend enough time, even several hours, in prayer.

The pastor needs to pray for possessing holiness. He should stay in the presence of the Lord for a long time until his scum is revealed and removed. If it is possible, each pastor should pray for the flock, for every person by name.

The pastor should be a person who has compassion in his heart for the straying and dying person. The pastor should be able to communicate with people about salvation personally and understand personal problems, and be able to point out the lack in their witness.

The pastor should learn to give comfort to the grieving and bereaved people. He should be able to enter their personal lives and become a part of their family. The pastor must remember that he is a shepherd and represents the Lord on earth at all times.

As pastor, his greatest ministry is to stand up and preach the good news. It will include education and experience and will require God's blessing to become effective. So that sinners can have a change of heart and give strength to believers.

He should remember all of God's counsel, including gospel preaching, Biblical principles, teachings, chastisement, preaching, and warnings.

He should also learn to pray in public, which can only be learned by praying many private prayers in secret places. In his prayer, he elevates the congregation into a magnificent atmosphere of God's presence and adoration.

He must learn to read Scripture clearly, respectfully and specifically so that everyone can understand. He has been ordered to guard the herd. He is also responsible for preparing candidates for baptism. He is also responsible for both the Lord's Supper and Baptism. At the end of the worship meeting, it is his responsibility to bless the people on behalf of God. He has to protect his flock from false teachings and false teachers. He has a special responsibility towards the poor of his flock. It is a privilege to teach the members to reach areas where the gospel has not yet reached. He can do this in the best way by presenting his example - he can take them on such trips and represent an example. In all things he is an example of Lord Jesus and righteousness to the people.

The pastor must always be prayerful, loyal, hard-working and faithful. The Apostle Paul was willing to change eating habits and sacrifice his freedom in order to win souls. He adapted himself to different classes of people. He was always ready to control his social life and practices, so that he could win the people and also be safe from unnecessary attacks.

The pastor is responsible to God for the souls of his flock. Successful pastors must be restrained and constantly controlled by the Spirit. The pastor who starts well, but then puts the Lord aside, puts himself in danger of being removed.

पास्टर के व्यक्तिगत जीवन का प्रमुख महत्व होता है क्योंकि लोग इतवार को उसके उपदेश को सुनते हैं और देखते रहते हैं कि पुरे सप्ताह ये किस प्रकार पूरे किए जाते हैं। पास्टर को धर्मपरायण - धर्मी, पवित्र जन होना चाहिए जो प्रभु येशु मसीह को अपने जीवन द्वारा प्रकट करता हो।

अविश्वासी सदा ही एक सेवक या पास्टर से लगभग सिद्ध होने की अपेक्षा रखता है। पास्टर प्रार्थना का जीवन व्यतीत करने वाला मनुष्य होना चाहिए। प्रतिदिन उसे प्रार्थना में पर्याप्त समय, यहां तक कि कई घंटों का समय व्यतीत करने की है।

पास्टर को अपने लिए पवित्रता-प्राप्ति के लिए प्रार्थना करने की आवश्यकता होती है। उसे प्रभु की उपस्थिति में लम्बे समय तक रहना चाहिए जब तक उसका मैल प्रकट किया जा कर हटा नहीं दिया जाता। यदि यह सम्भव हो तो प्रत्येक पास्टर को झुण्ड के लिए, एक एक व्यक्ति के लिए प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए।

पास्टर को ऐसा व्यक्ति होना चाहिए जिसके हृदय में भटके और मरते हुए लोगों के प्रति करुणा हो। पास्टर को लोगों से व्यक्तिगत रूप से उद्धार के विषय में बातचीत करने और व्यक्तिगत समस्याओं को समझने के योग्य होना चाहिए तथा उनकी साक्षियों में कमी-घटी को इंगित करने योग्य होना चाहिए।

पास्टर को दुःखी और शोकित लोगों को सान्तवना देना सीखना चाहिए। उसको इस योग्य होना चाहिए कि उनके व्यक्तिगत जीवनों में प्रविष्ट हो कर उनके परिवार का एक भाग बन जाए। पास्टर को याद रखना चाहिए कि वह विशेष रूप से एक चरवाहा है और हर समय पृथ्वी पर प्रभु का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

पास्टर होने के नाते उसकी सबसे बड़ी सेवकाई खड़े होकर सुसमाचार प्रचार करना है। इसमें शिक्षा और अनुभव सम्मिलित होगा और प्रभावशाली बनने के लिए परमेश्वर की आशीष की आवश्यकता होगी। जिससे पापियों का हृदय-परिवर्तन हो सके और विश्वासियों को बल मिल सके।

उसे परमेश्वर का समस्त परामर्श देना याद रखना चाहिए, इसमें सुसमाचार प्रचार, बाइबिल के सिद्धान्त, शिक्षाएं, ताड़नाएं, उपदेश और चेतावनिया सम्मिलित होंगी।

उसे सार्वजनिक रूप में प्रार्थना करना भी सीखना चाहिए, जो कि केवल गुप्त स्थानों पर बहुत अधिक निजी प्रार्थना करने के द्वारा ही सीखी जा सकती है। अपनी प्रार्थना में वह मण्डली को ऊपर उठाकर परमेश्वर की उपस्थिति और आराधना के भव्य वातावरण में पहुंचा देता है।

उसे पवित्रशास्त्र को स्पष्ट रूप में आदरपूर्वक और विशिष्ट रूप से पढ़ना सीखना चाहिए जिससे सभी लोग समझ सकें। उसे झुण्ड की रखवाली करने का आदेश समझा दिया गया है। बपतिस्मा के लिए प्रत्याशी तैयार करना भी उसकी जिम्मेवारी है। वह प्रभु-भोज और बपतिस्मा दोनों संस्कारों के प्रति भी जिम्मेवार है। आराधना-सभा की समाप्ति पर उसकी जिम्मेवारी है कि वह लोगों को परमेंश्वर की ओर से आशीष दे।। उसे अपने झुण्ड को झूठी शिक्षाओं और झूठे शिक्षकों से बचाना है। अपने झुण्ड के गरीबों के प्रति उसकी विशेष जिम्मेवारी है। उसे अपने सदस्यों को उन क्षेत्रों में पहुंचने की शिक्षा देने का विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त है जहां अभी तक सुसमाचार नहीं पहुंचा है। इसको वह अपना उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करके उत्तम रीति से कर सकता है – वह उनको ऐसी यात्राओं में अपने साथ ले जाकर उदाहरण प्रस्तुत कर सकता है। सभी बातों में वह लोगों के लिए प्रभु येशु और धार्मिकता का एक आदर्श है।

पास्टर को सदा ही प्रार्थनापूर्ण, निष्ठावान, परिश्रमी और विश्वासयोग्य होना चाहिए। प्रेरित पौलुस आत्माएं जीतने की खातिर खाने-पीने की आदतों को बदलने और अपनी स्वतन्त्रता को बलिदान करने के लिए तैयार रहता था। उन्होंने अपने को विभिन्न वर्ग के लोगों के अनुकूल बना लिया था। वह अपने सामाजिक जीवन और प्रथाओं को नियंत्रित करने के लिए सदा तैयार रहता था, जिससे वह लोगों को जीत सके और अनावश्यक आक्रमण से भी सुरक्षित रहे।

पास्टर अपने झुण्ड की आत्माओं के लिए परमेश्वर के सन्मुख जिम्मेवार है। सफल पास्टर संयमी और निरन्तर आत्मा द्वारा नियंत्रित होना चाहिए। जो पास्टर आरम्भ अच्छी रीति से करता है, परन्तु फिर प्रभु को एक ओर रख देता है, वह अपने को हटा दिए जाने के खतरे में डाल देता है।
